About Course
This 40-hour course introduces students to the theory and practice of private security operations as required by Chapter 493, Florida Statutes and Chapter 5N-1, Florida Administrative Code, et seq.
This course provides the 40 hours of professional training required for an application for a Florida Class “D” Security Officer License. It is a participative classroom (in-person or live-stream), lecture-style course using audio-visual presentations, case studies, reading and writing assignments, and role-playing exercises. You are expected to take notes and participate.
Course Price: $199.99 — includes Basic Life Saver first aid course certification and CPR/AED certification.
BLS and CPR/AED must be taken IN-PERSON in partnership with RESQNOW, a certified trainer by the American Heart Association.
Total Training Hours: Class D = 40 hours + final exam (on-line or in-person); BLS + CPR/AED = 4 hours.
Evaluation: Students must score a MINIMUM OF 75% ON THE FINAL EXAMINATION TO PASS THE COURSE (128/170 questions correct). Grading scheme is Pass/Fail.
Course completion does not itself grant a license. After the school reports successful completion through the FDACS Licensing Information and Alert System, the student must separately apply to FDACS and satisfy all licensing, fingerprinting, background, identification, immigration, and fee requirements.
Instructors: Patrick M. Megaro (License # DI3600040) and Jo-Lana R. Trotman (License # DI3600156)
